Hepatitis - And Its Types

The simplest way to describe the hepatitis is to identify it as a disease in which liver is affected by some sort of virus or infection. Liver is the most critical organ in the human body and any infection in the liver can generate several other problems too like skin problems and stomach problems. This disease is however curable and there are many treatments available ranging from the vaccination to some advance treatments.

There are five basic types of hepatitis such as hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. hepatitis A is developed in the body due the intake of infected food and water. Specific virus known as HAV is responsible for this infection. Some other reasons for this disease to emerge are anal oral touching during intercourse. Hepatitis A is not an unremitting liver disease it can be cured, while the major affect of this type of hepatitis is inflammation and swelling in the liver. Hepatitis B is caused by using the infected blood syringe or by the transfer of semen in human body. The major reason of spread of this disease is the use of shared needles during drug intake, sex without precautions and piercing with unsterilezed equipments. This is a transferable disease and can also be transferred to a new born baby during pregnancy. This type of hepatitis is caused by HBV virus.

Hepatitis C is also spread through contact with used syringes, razor sharing, piercing and tattooing tools, sex and blood transfer. However this is caused by HCV virus. This severe hepatic can cause liver swelling and can also lead to liver cancer if not treated at time. It is highly advised to check the blood for hepatitis C during blood donation. Most often we have seen people who are drug addicted to sale blood in order to buy drugs. Hepatitis D is caused in the persons who are already suffering with hepatitis B. this is also transferred due to contaminated needles. This of hepatitis is caused due to the HDV virus in the body. Hepatitis E is caused by HEV virus. It is most commonly caused by drinking infected water. However this hepatitis is not chronic. There may be other Types of Hepatitis which are yet to be discovered.
