More Information About Easter Eggs

Easter eggs are regular chicken eggs that have been especially decorated using dyes of bright colors and done in traditional or contemporary design. The Easter season is a time of celebration and is associated with fertility and rebirth and it has come to represent these ideas in many cultures around the world. For example, in Christianity, Easter eggs or Paschal eggs symbolize the stone tomb of Jesus, which was discovered to be empty after the Resurrection. For them, these are a reminder of eternal life. Nevertheless, decorating eggshells to celebrate Easter is an ancient practice that predates Christian traditions.

There are certain religious rituals performed in some Western religions involving these cute stuff. For instance, during the Paschal Vigil the faithful receive eggs that have been blessed by the priest. Meanwhile, the Roman Catholic Church in Poland has a tradition of blessing baskets of eggs and other food items. In Eastern European countries such as the Ukraine, Russia, Romania, and Bulgaria, Easter eggs are associated with new life. Ladies enjoy eggs made from porcelain while children are given the exciting task of finding colorful chicken eggs hidden in the garden. This tradition is also seen in many Western countries. Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, there is a practice of rolling eggs down the slope of steep hills. A version of this tradition is done in the United States, which differs in that the egg roll is done with a spoon.

Perhaps, one of the most common activities associated with the tradition is the Easter egg hunt.

The objective of the hunt is rather simple, and that is to find as many eggs. Organizers of the hunt go out of their way to make the game as fun and challenging as possible. Although most Easter egg hunts are held outside in the open, some games are set indoors. The game works for kids either way for as long as there are enough eggs to find and the people who hid them made sure that they are not too easy to find. However, since the participants are children, organizers also make sure that the hidden items are not too difficult to retrieve.

Though traditionally, the eggs that need to be found are hard boiled chicken eggs, some hunts offer exciting surprises such as candies made of chocolate or artificial eggs filled with candies. In some egg hunts, the artificial eggs are bigger or smaller than regular chicken eggs, which exponentially increase the fun and excitement of the game.

Every year, millions of children look forward to the annual Easter egg hunt, especially if there is a reward at the end of the hunt for the person who has collected the most number of eggs. There are other prizes given as a reward for other remarkable achievements, including an award for the person who found the smallest egg, the largest egg, or perhaps very specific egg that has a special surprise contained within it. Oftentimes, consolation prizes are also given to participants in recognition of their efforts.
